The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has postponed the Class X and Class XII Term 1 examinations for the academic year 2021-22. The ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) examinations were scheduled to be held from November 15 to December 16th, 2021.

The notice uploaded on the website of the CISCE says “The CISCE has decided to postpone the ICSE and ISC Year 2021-2022 Semester 1 Examination due to reasons beyond our control. All stakeholders will be informed of the revised schedule of the examination in due course of time.”

The CISCE had earlier, in view of the pandemic, decided to hold the board examinations for Classes X and XII in two terms, with the first term examinations being held in November- December and the second term examinations being held in March, as reported here.  The first semester exam was to be in conducted online, with MCQs, while the second semester examination will be held either in online or offline mode depending on the pandemic situation in the country. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also decided to hold the board examination in two terms for the academic year 2021-22.

Now that the CISCE has postponed the Term 1 examinations, it is unclear as to how the two semester pattern will proceed as there will be a very short gap between the two semesters if the first term examination is not conducted in December. The notice further says that “all stakeholders will be informed of the revised schedule of the examination in due course of time.” The official notification can be found here. Students should regularly check the official website of CISCE for updates regarding the updated schedule of the Term 1 examinations for Class X (ICSE) and Class XII (ISC).
