Exams Schools Students

The Council for the Indian School Certification Examination (CISCE) has re-uploaded the sample papers for the first semester of the Class X (ICSE) Board Examination. The specimen papers had first been uploaded by the Board on 26th August, 2021. However, the English Language Paper (English-1) and History and Civics Paper (H.C.G.-1) have significant changes in the pattern and marks distribution, reported the Times of India.

English Language

While the earlier specimen paper had MCQs of 0.5, 1, 2 and 4 marks, the revised paper for English-1 has only 1 mark MCQs. Similarly, internal options have been increased to 4 from 3.

History and Civics

Similarly, while the original specimen paper for History and Civics had 1 mark and 2 mark MCQs, the revised paper has only 1 mark MCQs. The number of questions have therefore increased from 32 to 40.

The exams are scheduled to be held from November 15th to December 6, 2021. The duration of each exam is of 1 hour, starting at 11 am, except Mathematics and some elective papers for which a duration of one and a half hours will be provided. The duration includes the time given for reading the question paper.

The exams for Class XII (ISC) also begin on November 15, 2021 but conclude on December 16, 2021. For Class XII, the duration of the exam will be 90 minutes for each paper. Over and above the given time, 15 minutes extra will be given for reading the question paper.

It is pertinent to note that CISCE has not publicised these changes in the Class X specimen papers on its website. It has been uploaded on the specimen papers section of the CISCE website, but does not indicate that it is a revised version.
