ICSE Class X: Kerala records 100% pass percentage

Kerala has recorded a 100% pass percentage in the ICSE Class X Board examinations for the academic year 2021-22. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) declared the results for the Class X ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) examinations which were conducted in the months of April and May, 2022.

The Board examinations for classes X and XII were conducted in two semesters last year due to the ongoing Covid pandemic and related restrictions. The first semester was conducted in December 2021 and the results for the same were declared in March 2022.

The all India pass percentage for the ICSE examinations this year is 99.97%, which is lower than Kerala’s numbers. 7,823 students – 4,113 girls and 3,710 boys appeared for the examination from the state and have all been declared pass. Additionally, two students from the state have also gained place in the top three all-India merit positions.

Athira SJ and Gowri Arun of St Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram, scored 99.6 per cent and 99.4 per cent respectively, winning them the second and third all India merit position and thereby the first and second rank in Kerala. Vishnu U Prabhu, also of St Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram, clinched the third spot in the state, reported the New Indian Express. The all India toppers scored 99.8%, the position being shared by four students.

CISCE has also said that to arrive at the result, equal weightage as been given to the marks of Semester 1 and Semester 2. “The marks of Semester 1, Semester 2 and project (internal assessment) have been added to arrive at the final marks in each subject and paper”, the press release said.

Candidates who are not satisfied with the marks can apply for recheck of answer scripts from the seven days day from declaration of the results. Students may request a rechecking if they are dissatisfied with their results. It will be possible to recheck between July 17 and July 23. To use the facility, students must pay a cost of 1000 per paper per subject.
