Owing to a dip in the number of daily Covid cases, many states have decided to reopen schools from February 1, 2022.
Below is list of school reopening dates in different states, as reported here and here:
Bihar: Schools were closed down due to the rise in Covid cases and moved back to online classes and shall continue to be held online until February 6.
Delhi: Schools in Delhi shall remain shut for now and will be reopened after the approval of DDMA given that the number of Covid cases in the capital are in decline.
Haryana: All government and private schools for Classes 10 to 12 will reopen tomorrow, while instruction of other classes will continue to be online.
Karnataka: Schools and colleges in Karnataka are scheduled to reopen today, January 31, for all classes. The decision was taken by the government in association with the Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee.
Kerala: Kerala schools remain closed for offline classes, except for vaccinated students of Classes 10 to 12.
Madhya Pradesh: Schools remain shut in Madhya Pradesh and a decision on reopening is expected soon.
Maharashtra: Schools and colleges in Maharashtra reopened on January 24, but Pune schools and colleges are scheduled to reopen tomorrow. While for Classes 1 to 8, school timings will be half of the regular timings, classes 9 to 12 and colleges will run according to the regular schedule.
Rajasthan: Classes 10 to 12 will begin offline classes from February 1, while classes 6 to 9 will start from February 10.
Tamil Nadu: Schools will reopen for Classes 1 to 12 from February 1. Playschools and pre-primary classes will remain shut, while colleges, polytechnic institutes and training centres will remain open.
Telangana: All educational institutions in the state shall start functioning from February 1, with strict compliance of safety precautions.
Uttar Pradesh: The UP government has decided to extend the school shutdown until February 15th. The state goes to polls from February 10th and may extend the lockdown to until after the end of the polls.
West Bengal: All classes are being held online and hostels have also been shut down.
